Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue

New Philadelphia, OH 44663

We had an unfortunate experience with this organization, where the puppy we purchased died the same day we bought it. The dog had a 56,000.00 white blood count when it passed away. We are interested in learning what experiences other people have had with From Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue, whether good or bad. Feel free to post your comments here, or email us at puppyrescue07@gmail.com.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your puppy.

Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue in New Philadelphia, OH seems to be more of a puppy brokerage than an animal rescue. To make potential adopters decide on the spot whether to adopt a puppy or not is not in the animals best interest. If you say "NO" to them, you are not "allowed" to look at another animal they have. Too many red flags with these people.

I had such a positive experience, we adopted Shady - lab/mastiff, she is the best dog, smart loving and absolutely beautiful. the best part is they did not want my first born. Very reasonably priced. Send me home with the medicine, food and a prayer book.

I am sorry for your loss, sometimes that does happen.

We also had a positive experience. Our puppy appeared healthy and that was confirmed by our vet. We have had her a month now and things are going well.
However, I am concerned that they are not appearing on petfinder.com and their website has disappeared. What happened to all the puppies?

Unknown said...

They are still around, I have two puggles from them and they are the smartest dogs i have ever known. I love them. The people are very friendly and love to hear how the other pups are doing. Infact we are going again this weekend to add to our family again with a little pup. i do see they are not on pet finder but they are on adoptapet.com and still have there own site.

They have a new website. http://www.h2erescue.com/about-us

Sorry about your loss, though that is the case with all shelters and animals, you can never tell. We had a wonderful experience with them. We drove from Pittsburgh to adopt an Australian Shepherd Mix, in June and he is doing great.

I am very sorry about the loss of your puppy. We adopted our Cavalier Spaniel 2.5 years ago from them and had a great experience. The dog did have one minor health issue and when we reported what the vet said they immediately called the vet to find out what the problem was. It was handled with meds. I think they are great people wanting to help too many puppies and are overloaded. They do try and convince many living in the country to have their pets neutered. I hope you have found a new pup, as my granddaughter said "papa, you saved a life".
Best of luck to you and God Bless.

I am very sorry for what happened, I can't imagine that kind of devastation. I have had my puggle from them for 4 months and he is very healthy, smart and has an amazing temperament. It takes a lot for me not to go back and get another one because this one has brought so much into my life.

I know sometimes they do not know what kind of conditions their puppies come from; she couldn't give me much background on mine, but I feel that this is the case with any rescue and unfortunately these things can't be foreseen.

I am also sorry to hear about the loss of your puppy. I can't imagine how sad that must have been.
We adopted two puggle puppies in August. One male, one female. They are great. Healthy, happy, fun, funny. I would have liked more information on where the dogs come from at Heaven to Earth but overall our experience was good.
I would do it all over again. And I would recommend getting two. It may seem like a crazy amount of work but our two puppies are so cute together... playing together, sleeping together.
Our vet marvelled at their dispositions. We had them spayed/neutered and they have had no health issues at all.
Good luck to you!

I'm sorry about your loss. We adopted a puppy from them in March and are extremely happy. We are currently considering adopting another for my in-laws who recently lost their dog.

From Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue was great to us. We took along our Toy Fox Terrier and were given plenty of time and privacy to make our decision. I'm sorry you had a bad experience!

We got our spaniel mix puppy there in November. He is a great addition to our family and we had a great experience with them. He is now 4 months old and we can't imagine life without him!

We also had a positive experience with Heaven to Earth Rescue in New Philadelphia, OH. In May 2009 we adopted our German Shepherd/Border Collie mix. She was a very healthy puppy when we got her and has not had any health problems . We got the records of all the shots she had while in their care and was sent home with a care package of preventive meds and puppy food. I would definately adopt from them again.

We had a great experience with Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue in New Philadephia, OH. Belle, our yorkie poo (we think) is the greatest dog! She i 2 1/2, weighs 7 pounds and could not be loved more by me, my husband, our children and everyone who comes in contact with her. We are actually comtemplating another puppy and would go to Heaven to Earch again. I am really sorry for your loss! I hope you have a more positive experience the next time you find your next pet.

I have had my pure bred shih-tzu from them for 2 years. He is so smart, he retrieved toys within one day of owning him! He is the best thing that has happened to me! From Heaven to Earth is trying to put puppy mills out of business by not charging an arm and a leg for the puppies. The cost of the puppy goes towards the rescue.

I am sorry for your loss. We adopted our puppy on june,2011. She was very sick and not eating but Rachael came to our house the day after we adopted her and gave her an antibiotic shot and gave us some pills for her diarhhea. She is a wonderful puppy and very healthy now. I guess thats the risk you take when you adopt a rescue. So sad though, I cant even imagine!

I adopted two wonderful puppies June 6th 2011. Both Ausie mixes from different litters. 1 boy and 1 girl. Heaven to Earth were awesome. I had a great experience with them and friends of mine are adopting from them as well. We drove from outside Pittsburgh. I love my puppies. They are 4 months old now.

Anonymous said...

I had a great experience with them also. I adopted my Border Collie from them May, 2007. He is the cutest, smartest, most lovable guy there is. I just wish I could find out who adopted his siblings to see how they are all doing.

Anonymous said...

We had a great experience with them as well. I do know that they do not keep their puppies there, so it would require making another arrangements. The other puppies that are in the center are there for other families to see as they have identified them from pictures as possibilities. Our pup, a pug mix, has been healthy other than he has allergies that are common for many dogs. He is a 4-H show dog for our son, loves to go for walks, and enjoys snuggling. This is our first dog (been married 23-years) and I did not realize the amount of time, energy, and money a dog would take--even after reading a lot about it. So . . . if your thinking of getting a dog, make sure your have the time, energy, and finances. If you decide to adopt a puppy, love it. Dogs are nothing but 5, 10, 15, 20, 50+ pounds of love.

BEWARE- this is NOT a rescue group. But a puppy broker- RED FLAGS- NOT listed on Petfinder- ALL legitimate rescues are on Petfinder. ALL legitimate rescues Spay and Neuter- Rescues do not want more UNWANTED dogs, it defeats the purpose of a rescue. What rescue has only puppies, and a large amount..nonstop. Check the Tuscarawas County Bargain Hunter Newspaper- every week H2E advertises to buy your puppies for $20 if purebred, if not they take them for free. Then do the vetting themselves and charge you $180-$200. So basically you could have gotten the same pup for free. It's a scam, not a RESCUE at all. They sell puppies- So to anyone who thinks they are "saving" a dog you are just buying a puppy that they got for free.

I adopted a puppy in March. He is healthy and wonderful. She told me that the Amish contact her when they have puppies as they do not fix their dogs. She also said all puppies get adopted. They also rescue from puppy mills. She got very weird when she realized that my friend who was with me was my partner.... We thought she was not going to go thru with the adoption. We hurried and filled out the paperwork and got out of there. We paid a $275.00 dollar adoption fee, which I felt was fair. Strangely I did not get a "prayer" book, as others did......iIt did seem strange that we met at a house in the back of a shopping plaza that they use only for the adoption. You never see any other animals except the one you want. We wanted our puppy and knew it was the right dog for us. She is happy and healthy and very smart.

We rescued a puppy last year from Heaven to Earth. He and the litter mates were advertised as Shepard/ collie mix. The web site said they would be large dogs. Two weeks after we adopted our pup the same litter was advertised as boarder collie/Australian Shepard mix, and listed as small to medium dogs. They changed the breed of the exact same dogs we looked at the prior two weeks. My son loves the dog, but we were looking for a large dog, We were clearly misled and I felt like they shouldn't be allowed to adopt out the same litter and say they are different breeds.

This is a branch of the owners' puppymill brokerage.

We got our puppy from h2e. It felt really strange to go to the adoption center, & its a totally empty house, with just our puppy there. Rachel was very nice, but it seemed like she was really rushing us to sigh, pay & leave. She said the other puppies are at different "foster homes " in the area. That seemed strange to me. Also, on the medical record we received, there is no name of the vet who administered the shots. Also, there was a sticker on it that had strange symbols on it. I looked it up online, & its a Jewish prayer. Anyone know anything about the comments I just made about the situation?

We got Gracie from them and she is a wonderful dog and healthy. She is 2 yrs old now and we went from Pittsburgh to get her. Very smart and friendly.

We just adopted a Yorkie/poodle mix puppy named Bentley from Heaven to Earth. Rachel was very professional, nice and seemed very caring and concerned about Bentley and the other dogs that the rescue has. Rachel is so particular about keeping her facility clean for the puppies that she asked my husband and I to remove our shoes so that we would not bring in any germs and expose the puppies to. She explained how she received Bentley and his brother. We just had our puppy to our vet and he checked out to be very healthy with no existing problems. I would highly recommend this rescue to all of my family and friends!!

I rescued a puppy from H2E and made some strange observations. One is that they only do appointments only and meet you at a vacant house to complete the deal. Two, the woman appears to be a real estate broker and is selling these dogs in a similar fashion like selling houses with contracts you sign and then pay. Three, she is not concerned about the puppy being spade or neutered, all other rescues insist on it. Four, you are not allowed to visit their kennels. Five, my puppy was somewhat malnourished and her front paws were deformed like she had be stuck in a small crate and not let out very much, luckily after a few weeks of feeding her quality food, (Orijen), her paws straightened out and she is doing great now. I think she is just taking in litters of puppies for free or very cheap and turning them around in a couple weeks for profit. Something is just not right about this organization. Does anyone else know more about this Heaven to Earth rescue?

Anonymous said...

I also had a positive experience. I was looking at a few puppies on line and the owner was very good about helping match up a personality to go with our other dog. We also had to sign a contract promising to get him neutered. I recommend them to other folks. Sorry for your loss!

Anonymous said...

I adopted a puppy from them earlier this year. They make you sign the spay/neuter agreement and make you think they are going to check to make sure you get it done. It's been almost a year and I haven't heard a peep. The woman was wearing a wig, which I found very strange since she seems to have a full head of hair in the photos on their webpage. Who are you hiding from?? It all just seems very shady. I'll never go through them again. Not because of the dog, he's perfect...it's about feeling like they are hiding something and being dishonest. I felt like I was supporting a puppy mill. My gut tells me they are breeding these dogs somewhere and use this empty house (which is super creepy) to conduct the adoptions. Just shady...

Anonymous said...

We also adopted a puppy from them. Very strange people and going to a vacant house seemed shady. They gave us medicine for a spot on the puppy's back, but I wanted our vet to check her before using it. Good thing because the "medicine" turned out to be sugar water and alcohol. The puppy is wonderful but it was a very strange experience. I have serious doubts about them being a true rescue organization, but I'm happy we rescued our puppy from them!

If it quacks like a duck, walks like it duck.....Just because you are happy with your dog does not mean s/he did not come from deplorable conditions. Puppy mills do NOT have to produce pure bred dogs- they can be glorified back yard breeders to broker breeders (which this seems to be). I feel that if you adopt from this organization you are not "rescuing" any more than if you went to a "Puppy Land" type STORE!

Warning signs:
** If in fact the puppies are being fostered together (and they almost always are) why can't you see them at the same time? They already share the same germ pool. There is no foster parent input (for comparison see other organizations).
**The large/medium dogs are always of the same type (leading me to believe that they breed dogs themselves). How many Australian Shepherds/ Border Collies are out there?
**Why don't they EVER rescue teen or grown dogs?

Yes it is good when a dog get a home- but don't delude yourself. This place does not feel right for a RESCUE, but does resemble a hybrid organization to make money on selling puppies.

For more information about nonprofits you can go to guidestar.org This company declared that in 2009 their revenue was $146,200 and expenses were $140,531 REALLY???

Thanks to all your posts I was able to do some research and WILL NOT "adopt" from this BREEDER!

FYI Women who are Orthodox Jews often wear wigs.

We bought an Aussie,Lab mix before Christmas, she's been wonderful. Went to the vet. And they said everything was fine with her. I didn't have ny bad feelings about the shelter, thought they were both very nice and professional.

In July of 2008 we adopted a puppy from this rescue. She was labeled as a lab/mastiff mix but after her first vet visit we were told she is definitely a lab/pit mix. She is a very sweet, loving, smart dog and is loved by everyone. To be honest, if she was first labeled as being mixed with pit I would not have adopted her. We are very happy that we did! I found her on petfinder.com and met and picked her up at a pet store in the area. She was our first dog to be adopted from a rescue. We have since adopted a sister for her who we met by chance. Her owner was going to take her to the pound. My experience with heaven to earth was a positive one with the exception of the spay/neuter deal. I agree that rescues should have it done prior to adoption. After hearing how their operations work now, I would be apprehensive of adopting a puppy from them. The vacant house and no other rescues in sight seems very strange and unprofessional to me. I am very sorry for anyone who had a bad experience through this rescue.

We've had our shepherd Storm for 3 years. He came from h2e and we had a great experience with them. He was healthy and came with all appropriate paperwork. We also signed a paper saying that we would have him neutered which we did.

We also adopted 2 poodles from this place in Dec. 2013, we also met at this empty strange house..the poor puppies were so dirty and stunk so bad, we had to ride 3 hours back home with the windows down, they were covered in fleas had ear infections..and it has been a hard 6 months almost 7 months, these 2 dogs are like wild animals we have tried obedience classes we have tried correcting them ourselves and nothing helps..they have to be put in their cage if someone comes in to our home afraid they will bite them, would never have them around children.. I really think they have another breed in them..its sad that these people could sell animals like this.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your puppy. We also had a bad experience with these people. We went to the weird empty house to see a puppy we were interested in, but then we decided to back out because we didn't think the puppy was a good match for us. The lady was really upset at us. She tried to put us on a guilt trip and said we may have exposed the puppy to the Parvo virus. We had a bad feeling about these people. She also said she didn't screen us as good as she should have.

We got a puppy from this place a year ago; the puppy was in good health - definitely NOT the breed advertised; ad for Australian shepherd and as she started growing we became suspicious of that fact; she is actually either mixed with blue heeler or she is Australian kelpie - big difference in mannerisms from a aussie! I also felt very weird at the vacant house; and the person we dealt with (woman with a wig). She had the puppy in a tiny carrier in her car while shopping prior to meeting us - it was Feb in Ohio... the puppy was cold. Based on my instincts I would have taken this puppy regardless to save it from this situation! Definitely appears to be a form of brokerage!

We adopted our dog about a year ago from Heaven to Earth, mostly positive but something about it feels off. Our dog was advertised as a large dog German Shepherd/Border Collie Mix. She is barely 40 pounds, hardly a large dog, which is a little annoying as we were looking for a large dog. She was very healthy when we got her and we signed to say we will have her spayed. Our dog is over a year old now, very healthy and very happy.

Ever since we left the adoption center with our dog I have felt that I had been duped. I have no evidence at all to say they aren't exactly what they say they are, but something about the way they do things makes me wonder if they are truly a rescue.

We have just adopted a puttpy from Heaven to Earth Amimal Rescue. The puppy was advertised as Lab/Collie mix and she looks like that. When we picked her up we were told it might have some German Shepard, too. That's alright. The lady who welcomed us was very nice and friendly. The puppies were in a house that, of course, was empty because nobody actually lives there. It looks like they rent this place to show the puppies. The house was spotless and they had different rooms to show the puppies. There were at least two other families there looking at puppies. They also sold crated, collars and other pet supplies. It was not creepy at all. I did have a bad feeling about this rescue group AFTER I read some of the bad review in this blog, but my husband decided we should go see the puppy anyway. All my fears went away the minute I saw the house and the people selling the puppies. Of course they don't know exactly which breed these puppies are because they rescue them from farms (we live in Ohio) and they may know the mother of the puppies but have no idea who the father is. That totally makes sense to me. We're very happy with our puppy. She looks perfectly healthy, happy and has a very nice personality. I think if you're interested in adopting, and you're not too picky about the kind of dog of you get, you should give this rescue group a chance.

We rescued a border collie puppy from H2E several years ago. We took Maggie to a specialist soon after we got her. The specialist determined she had a neurological disorder that caused several issues she was having that eventually led to her passing away. H2E was unresponsive to any of our calls and messages.

All the red flags are there that H2E is not a rescue at all.We even picked Maggie up from a Petstore that H2E worked with. We should have done the research upfront.

Given their location in Amish country of Ohio and there only having adoptable puppies, sometimes full litters, this is definitely not a rescue.

I strongly suggest everyone stay away from there and hopefully we are able to shut them down in the near future. They are a fraudulent non-profit org and doing a huge determent to the rescue culture.

I am so angry at what these scammers are doing. I was interested in a dog for my family. We went to a website that had pets posted from various "rescues". Most are legit, but NOT Heaven to Earth. OMG. We found a dog we liked, very adorable. I called early in the afternoon to inquire about him, but left a voicemail. I went on their website to look for pics, look at doggies, look for some other info and some stuff struck odd. 1)I tried to read the "about us" part and all it gave me was the address for Lowes in New Philadelphia, Ohio which is double odd. Mainly because why are you giving me Lowes address, then directions to your house? Why not just give the dang address?? Also, the pup we were interested in was said to be in Gahanna, OH which is 20 minutes from where we live. Not new Philly which is 2 hours away!! (I will come back with info on that Gahanna address). 2) Why are their names Paul and Cindy Feldman, yet they go by Joseph and Rachael?? Hmmmmmm.......Things were not making sense. I told my hubby that I was suspicious of these people, and now........I know with good reason. The lady "Rachael" called me back at 10pm. 10 pm!!!!!! My hubby tried to ask some questions. She told us that the dog was in New Philly, to which my hubby said "that is too far.....I thought he was in Gahanna"? "Rachael" said "no he is here in New Pilly". She said that the Gahanna location is a "satellite pinpoint". WTF?? Then we asked about the neuter situation. We wanted to know why you had to sign a contract about neutering. I mean you pay for them, isn't that your choice? Anyway, she said if you don't neuter them, you cannot adopt. When I read their "rules" they stated they will provide $50 towards s/n, BUT you HAVE TO USE ONE OF THEIR VETS????? My hubby asked what vet do they use? Can I have a name? Location? Number? You know, so we can check them out. She said "NO"!! I cannot tell you anything until you sign the contract and pay. LMAO.......red flags are EVERYWHERE!!!!!! My hubby asked if they had any young or adult dogs to adopt, which she replied "No, people only want to adopt puppies, no one wants an older dog". Hmmmmmm......real LEGIT rescues rescue ALL ages of dogs. I am definitely not letting this go. I read all these other comments and am appalled. Puppy mill......that's what this is. I have rescued from a legit place before, this is not legit, and what they do is criminal.

Anonymous said...

With the experience I had it seems to me that this is just a puppy mill that claims its a rescue so it can hide from authorities and get tax breaks. Most likely she encourages Amish farmers to breed their dogs then she waits till their 8-10 weeks old and then buys them for cheap. She then keeps them in small kennels until she makes appointments to show them, then makes people sign bogus contracts, takes the money and moves on to the next one. Has people meet her at a vacant house so no one can see the conditions the puppies are being kept in. Only deals puppies because they are easy to unload and she does not have to expense raising them. Its a very efficient operation. It makes you sick that she plays it off as a rescue. The puppies do need rescue from her for sure but she is the reason the puppies were bred in the first place, very sad that a person can do this just for money.

I have posted on here before we have two poodles that were 4 months old when we adopted from H2E they are now going on 14 months old..they are still just as wild and crazy as they were when we got them, can not get them trained for anything still using pee pads or whatever they can find to pee on..I really think they have another breed in them I have had poodles all my life and not had this problem they were filthy dirty, stunk and ate up with fleas when we got them home.....something needs to be done with this place, if they were not so far away from me these dogs would have went back..but I am trying my best to love them its not the dogs fault....

I hope someone has contacted the Humane Officer of Tuscarawas County. If enough people call, we may be able to put a stop to this organization.

My husband and I adopted a puppy from H2E in July. We were told she was a german shepherd/lab mix and would grow to be "extra large".

6 months later we have a sweet, intelligent, easily trainable, and snuggley puppy, however she is only about 30 lbs and will likely top off there. Although looking back it was probably best for our situation to have a smaller dog, we are irritated that we were misled. Speaking with our trainer, we have concluded she is likely some kind of heeler or kelpie mix.

We wouldn't trade her for anything, but if we really had our hearts set on a large dog it would have been disappointing. They either lied or didn't know. Either way they were definitely misleading. We would not go back or recommend them to anyone else. Just happy we saved our puppy from them!

Heaven to Earth Animal Rescue in New Philadelphia rescue is a SCAM. We called to set up an appointment and the lady asked me a few questions, but did not really care who she was adopting the puppy to. We went to her house and had to take off our shoes. We then were led into a room, where a puppy was given to us. We were not allowed to put him on the floor. Only in the bin or on the small square of newspaper. We were then given his medical records written in pencil on a sheet of paper that could be any ones. I asked where she got her animals from and she said from the Amish country. I asked her for real medical records and she said he husband is a vet tec so they do them at home. I then asked to see the puppy that we said we wanted to see over the phone, she told me he was adopted already. When asking her questions she kept winking at me, a few times a sentence. After looking up reviews, we discovered the weird feeling we were getting was correct. So we thanked her for letting us drive over an hour to visit her and for her time, but then she went into crazy mode and started yelling at us. She told us that she knew we were not getting a dog just from looking at us and that we should be ashamed because we lied to her. Then she told us to never come back and then she kept calling me a few minutes after I left. She turned out to be a part of a puppy mill. I would never get a puppy from her ever.

Have been reading all of the comments...We adopted two sisters 7 years ago - we have a rescue of our own including being on the Board of a local shelter...we know all of the signs of shady rescues and we did not see any of them. Our girls are completely different in size and looks, but have the same characteristics otherwise. We had a great experience and am sorry that others hadn't. Understand things do change, but again our experience was positive.

Please beware of the advertised breed you are " rescuing"
I like many others on this site have been tricked into taking a breed of dog this place knew was something else. I saw all the liter mates when I took my dog and saw the same liter/ with the same names advertised the following week as a different breed of dog.We paid the 275.00 adoption fee, we had the dog vet checked and neutered, and he is defiantly not a shepherd/collie/lab mix. We have had many dogs and this is the first dog we have ever had that is untrainable. Turns out he is an Australian Sheperd not German Shepard Mix. BIG MISTAKE!

I am so disturbed that these people are still in business. I called the county animal control officer and reported them but have never heard back. Has anybody else called? Clearly they are running a mix-breed puppy mill. It's frustrating that they are still allowed to operate when there are so many shady practices going on.

I adopted a puppy from them recently. We had a great experience.

We came very close to adopting a puppy from this organization, but something did not feel right. Although they had a number of puppies on their web page, they indicated to us that they only had one remaining puppy. We drove to the empty house in New Philadelphia (their "adoption center") to meet the puppy. When we said that we weren't ready to make a decision, Rachel (whose real name is Cynthia, I believe) was very pushy. This was a big red flag, since no viable rescue organization would push someone to adopt a dog. We asked if there were other puppies, and she said she didn't know when they would have more. Less than 6 hours later, there were 15 new puppies on their website. After researching how puppy mills operate, we were convinced that they are operating a mixed breed puppy mill of sorts. After all, how many "unwanted" puppies would there be EVERY WEEK in New Philadelphia, Ohio? Think about it - how many puppies need "rescued"? Puppies at bona fide animal shelters and rescues are typically the easiest to adopt out. Reviewing the IRS Form 990 also raised my suspicion. The proprietors don't even use their real names. There are so many red flags and I am disheartened that they are allowed to operate as an animal rescue and a non profit. I am planning to report them in hopes of bringing some attention to the scam they're running.

We also got a German Shepherd Border Collie mix in 2009. Wonder if it was from the same litter.

I don't believe this story.

I am sorry for loss of the puppy that started this blogspot. But I adopted a puppy from this place also, although Cindy / Rachel or whatever her name is seemed a bit eccentric, but she seemed to want to genuinely make sure the puppy and my family was a good fit. I think if you read their homepage of the website it clearly explains where these puppies come from. This page has quite a few negative comments, and some I feel are unfair. A long story short, my puppy is healthy and happy, and I would probably adopt from them again.

"Adopted" a puppy a few weeks ago. All is well thus far, but feeling a little weird since the experience. They appear to be turning these puppies out at an alarming rate. These folks need to be investigated, in our opinion and we are disappointed in ourselves that we didn't research the organization ahead of time. Please beware and read-up on the puppy mill situation prior to adopting.

I had the similar weird feeling that many here have had. They seemed to be hiding information, not easy to reach, shady adoption process. I'm happy on one hand that we rescued our sweet border collie mix, but really wary my whole goal to rescue and not support a puppy mills may have gone awry. I also feel that she gave the puppy something to be sedated as she knew that we had two hours drive. The puppy mostly slept thru the ride and then for next 12 hours. I do think that they are a puppy brokerage.

Several years ago we adopted a puppy that was supposed to be only a few months old, but the vet said he was much older. I loved that dog, but he didn't like my new grandson and eventually bit him. I was so upset, but grandchildren take president over the four-legged. We had to give him away. I cried.

I inquired about a puppy we saw on the website this week. I was told all of that litter was gone. I wanted to know about the adoption process because every rescue has different criteria. Rachael got very agitated; stating I had to fill out the application first In order to fill out the application I had to request a certain puppy from the website. Why would I only consider one puppy from a litter by picture only?? I was offended she told me she would only consider adopting to me if I was a "stay at home mom" because I have children. I got a really bad feeling when the call ended. After reading all these posts anyone else think it's weird that only approx 5 different breeds are the source of all these "mixed puppies". It screams puppy mill.

I'm the one who posted the September 6, 2016 post.
Update: Dog is fine, we love her but it has been a nightmare regarding her health. We discovered after vomiting every time we took her for a ride that she had worms. And then we noticed them in her feces. We've had several visits to the Vet to get rid of these and it's getting better, but they keep coming back. We believe it to be a product of her life before us. I don't know how to stop these people, but sure would like to try. Please be aware and educate yourself before dealing with this organization.

I adopted a "Border Collie/ Blue Healer" in November 2016. I had reservations about this place and inquired more than once about them working with puppy mills but, was reassured that these dogs were from Amish farmers that didn't believe in fixing their animals.
Heaven2Earth is definitely working with puppy mills!!!
As many others have said it is "shady". Every week there are new puppies. When I spoke with Rachael initially when I inquired about where the puppies were kept she said they were kept in their house in a sun room. The puppies were in a large fenced area and were getting paper trained at one end of the fenced area.
When I went to the abandoned house behind Lowes there was another women that was there helping to bring the specific puppy you requested to see to you, I again inquired about where the puppies were kept. She said in the basement of the house (the abandoned one where you go to see the puppy). I asked if they were working on potty training outside and she said "no. too many germs". So these puppies were being kept in a basement and not let outside!!!
Both women also kept saying that my puppy was much whiter -he just needed a bath and his fur was gray because of the newspaper from the potty training/ fenced area. It was obvious the puppy had been wet and was dried off with newspaper and the ink came off on him.
Also, when I got my puppy home he wouldn't touch the Science Diet they gave us a bag of and said they had been feeding him. He also had a peculiar way of drinking from a water bowl by stinking his tongue way out and it appeared that he had only been drinking out of a hanging type water bottle.
I wish I would have found this blog site before adopting and contributing to puppy brokers. I found Heaven2Earth on AllPaws.com and I will make sure I report them and contact Tuskawaras County officials.

Sorry, just posted and wanted to add --if you find them on AllPaws you will notice the "adoption fee" varies depending on the breed. More desirable full breeds cost almost $100 more. The fee generally appears to be $362 but, I've seen $472 for Labs.

I adopted a puppy from this group in 2008. At that time they were on Petfinder.com. They also had the puppies at a pet store for people to interact with and not an abandoned house. Sounds like things have really changed. My puppy was a puggle from a litter of eight. I was able to play with all of the puppies in a back room at the pet store and took my time deciding on which one I wanted. I was also told they came from an Amish farm and would have been destroyed if they had not rescued them. Not sure what is true but I did have a good experience and got a very sweet, intelligent puggle girl. I thought it was odd that she was not spayed. I got her spayed and called to let them know and got the feeling they were not concerned that it had been done. I tried to find them awhile later when I decided I wanted another puggle and they were no longer on petfinder. Thought that was odd and another red flag.

These puppies are definitely from a puppy mill. It is horrendous that they say it is a rescue group and bring religion into this. Many puppy mills are run by the amish. They keep their breeding dogs in cages their whole life in horrible conditions. Can't believe this is on petfinder.

Just recently "rescued" Shepard mix. Like many others on here stated; things did seem bit strange about their whole adoption process. There were a couple of dogs we were interested in and told had to choose just one to meet. Very unusual especially if a whole litter is available. DO NOT want to support puppy mill in any way.....but "Rachel" comes across as very sweet and genuine as to what they are doing to rescue puppies from farmers....have been for 14 years now I was told. We went to "adoption" center behind Lowes which is just basically an empty rented house. She did go downstairs into basement to get the puppy. Met him outside as he just woke up and probably needed to go to bathroom. He was very sweet and loving. Different than years ago the dogs are already spay/neutered and shots started.... of course you do ultimately pay for this in the $426 adoption fee. Rachel states that her husband is vet tech at local clinic and that they work with them? Did receive paperwork all in pencil and vets name penciled in under others. Paperwork did have labels from shots attached. She did seem very eager to try and get us to commit to the puppy and send us on our way...all while being very sweet though. Did mention that he may be bit nervous at first as we live in city and puppy from country...not used to any noise. Which does have some validity/can understand. Showed us his neuter site and instructed usual course..keep eye if any bleeding or bruising worse than normal. Did ??? as he was bleeding a bit at meeting. Just told to keep eye on it and to follow up if any concerns/questions. He also had some "wear/rubbing" marks on back of heels. That was explained away as probably conditions prior to rescue. Even with all my uneasy feelings and uncertainties; we took the puppy. Was advised to call and follow up about neuter incision with her husband in couple days. Not liking the fact that he was bleeding 4 days after surgery (when we met and took him home) I took him to our vet of 20+ years when we for home. He was bleeding due to a hematoma in his scrotom; which was also causing the bruising. Which is caused from a bad neuter surgery. Thankfully it was caught quick enough not to require another surgery and was handled with antibiotics,anti-inflammatory and care/love. I did follow this up with her husband who tried to show some concern but how genuine... who knows. Our vet did also state the wear on his paws was from living conditions and he was a bit thin. He also is not just a bit afraid of things...he is terrified of every sound/noise and at 11 weeks old had no idea what to do with stairs?!?! Which leads me to believe absolutely no socialization whatsoever and just screams puppy mill/broker. It makes me so angry that they are able to get away with this and like many others I wish I would've found this blog in advance. But also, on the other hand; I am so glad that we did "rescue" this puppy because he is a sweet loving guy. I can't imagine what could've or would've happened if we didn't rescue him when we did. He's just going to need a lot of patience/love to remove the fears from whatever he's been through. THESE PUPPIES DO NEED RESCUING BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT MAY SEEM TO BE FROM THEIR "RESCUERS". So upsetting!!!!!! 😢

I did post last comment 8/29/17. As upset as I was with everything going on with our new puppy. I most also follow up. Seems to be a catch 22 here. I did receive a follow up call checking on the pup again after my initial check in about incision site. They did seem somewhat concerned about his well-being & stated a check in the mail to help cover extra expense with having to take him to the vet right away. I did not ask for this and must say find it to be a nice gesture on their part. Now I am not sure if it is just to try and cover their butts or genuinely feel bad and want to help. In a sense I feel that they do care about these pups but may be in over their heads or things have snowballed into more than they intended it to be?? Not sure. Either way... still adamant about not wanting to support a puppy mill but unfortunately if that is the case here..not the pups fault. (Our guy is healing up well and just need to work on getting him used to life in the city.)
Just make sure, as with anything else in life; to do research and make an informed decision before making any commitments.

Thanks to all who posted! I looked at the Heaven To Earth site and immediately told my husband that this group is dealing in puppy mill dogs! They are not a shelter. Glad you all confirmed my suspicions. How are they even still in business? I will be contacting the state AT.

Sorry, I meant the state AG.

I agree.

I am so glad that I read this before getting stuck in this scam. I thought it was strange from the get-go when the Female would not speak to my husband. She said she had to talk to me. Then she "berated" me for visiting animal shelters telling us that we would bring Parvo home. Finally, she said only one dog was left that we were interested in (the one I initially inquired about) and it would have to go to committee to see if we could have her since I had a child. If we got a call tomorrow, we could have the puppy and if we didn't get a call then we were turned down. What committee? She didn't bother to meet us or even ask us what type of environment the dog would have? However, she made sure to ask whether we'd be ready to adopt if we were offered a chance to visit the "one dog only" at "the adoption center".

I was looking through these posts and thought I should post some comments to help clear things up. I have known this group for a while.
To start, “puppy mills” are defined as places where animals are kept in conditions considered inhumane and forced to produce puppies every cycle and are pure bred or designer breeds. The puppies in this group are almost never pure bred or designer. You see a lot of the same breeds because they are the dominant breeds found working on farms. When you load a puppy on to Adopt a Pet or one of the other websites you are only allowed to pick two breeds. If you read their description there are often more breeds listed to reflect the possible combination in that litter. Puppies grow very fast and their appearance can change. Since they do not know the exact lineage of the parents, certain traits from another breed may become dominant, and so they can be advertised more accurately they change the breeds.
The farmers and Amish still do not believe in spaying or neutering for a variety of reasons even though the Vets will tell them about the benefits. Heaven to Earth offers to get the dogs fixed, most are reluctant. Either they think the dog will become lazy or they religiously do not believe in it. Unfortunately, this means a lot of puppies are destroyed or go to the wrong people (like dog fights) if they can’t give them away they do not want to feed or care for them any longer. This is one of the reasons the group was started in the first place.
If you look back through the comments on this post, almost half of them are positive and from people that actually adopted from Heaven to Earth. Of the negative posts only about half of them adopted from Heaven to Earth the other half are just stating their opinion without actually knowing the group. No one can please everyone. I hope that the people that had a bad experience were able to get things resolved. If you go to their website and Facebook page you will see that there are lots of positive reviews from people that have adopted from this group.
The well kept empty house is where people meet for adoptions. Since they go by appointments, there is no need for someone to be there all the time. No animals are housed there. They used to show their pups at a local pet store and someone that had been to the dog pound gave one of the dogs Parvo. Since then they have been very cautious about who visits with the puppies and they worked out guidelines with their vet on how to handle the situation. The ASPCA had a good article a few years ago that showed how people traveling from one Shelter to another was actually the number one cause for the spread of infectious diseases in shelter animals
Heaven to Earth Rescue has been around since 2004. Over the years they have grown and learned and always tried to find better ways to care for and find homes for all the dogs they come in contact with. In 2015 Joseph received his degree as a Veterinary Technician and is licensed with the State of Ohio. The group is registered with ODA and the Attorney General’s office and has been invited by the Better Business Bureau to become an accredited charity.
This is all just my observation having known this group for a while. You should always ask questions and check things out. I guess you should also question “Anonymous” posts (including mine) How credible is the complaint or praise if you do not sign your name.

My fiancé and I drove 2.5 hours to see a puppy. When we walked in and met “Rachel” she asked if we were excited. I told her my fiancé was a little nervous and she asked why. He stated that he’s never had a puppy before (which she knew from the “phone interview” when we made the appointment to see the dog. She kept assuring us that a goldendoodle was a great dog for a first-time dog owner) and that we were getting married next year. She then cut him off. She told us she can’t show anyone a dog who isn’t 100% sure they’ll be going home with that dog that day and that we should have called and cancelled our appointment. She also said they don’t show dogs to first time dog owners. She then proceeded to argue with my fiancé when he tried explaining that he wanted a dog and we drove there to meet the dog so we could decide if he was a good fit for us. She told us again that she wouldn’t show the dog to us because we could transmit a disease to him and we had to be 100% sure we were taking him home with us that day.

She insisted that in her 17 years of doing this she’s only seen people walk through the door excited to be there and to meet the dog that they knew they’d be taking home that day. Dogs are a big commitment and she’s never seen anyone walk in the door nervous about taking one home?

Rachel was rude and offensive to my fiancé. I’ve adopted a dog before from a true animal rescue (Animal Friends) and it was a completely different experience. There’s something off about this place.
